Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and Meglena Kuneva have been given the highest applauses by the European Liberals
Welcoming more than 1000 European Liberal Parties delegates to the Belgian capital Brussels yesterday, the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party (ELDR) President Annemie Neyts addressed the guests, the first in order the NMSS leader Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and then the other delegations leaders and determined the forthcoming campaign as a crucial one for the liberalism. Bulgaria is represented by a delegation led by the NMSS leader Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Other members of the delegation are the NMSS Vice-chairman Iliya Lingorski, the Member of the European Parliament Bilyana Raeva, the member of the Bulgarian Parliament Antonia Parvanova, the NMSS International department chief Alida Rizova, the member of the NMSS elections headquarters Borislav Cekov, Ludmila Videnova, Head of Presscenter, as well as district coordinators and regional journalists.
Annemie Neyts made an analysis of the situation in the world and in Europe and pointed out that the crisis which we are going through, demonstrates the necessity and usefulness of the European Union. The crisis helps us to make the case for the European Union, where the member states together are so much better equipped to overcome the crisis, than each of our nations would be if we had to muddle through alone.
The socialists today want to return to the good old days when public services where first providers of employment rather than services to the public. Their policy has been ineffective and it failed. The role of the liberals at present is to propose the freedom formula and the balance between the sustainable economy and the prosperity of the citizens.
The Vice Prime Minister of Belgium Didier Reynders and the former president of the European Parliament Pat Cox insist that the elections for a new Parliament and a new Commission should bring forward the necessity of leaders with vision, ideas and professionalism. “The liberals are this kind of people. The victory of the liberals will be the victory of Europe”, concluded Reynders.
The campaign of the liberals is composed upon several basic items – civil rights and liberties; sustainable economy; healthy financial system avoiding national protectionism; the “fifth” freedom – the free movement of knowledge; and the new idea about the Green economy treaty in Europe.
The new consumer/producer relation is the item that Meglena Kuneva contributed to the liberals’ election campaign. The socialists and the Christian-democrats relay on the force, but force is not inexhaustible. The liberals relay on freedom, it is an eternal engine. This turned into a part of the motto of the “election rally” of the European liberals in Brussels last night.
“The rally” itself is a public debate on the already mentioned fundamental items for the liberals for the forthcoming elections. Many Prime Ministers, Ministers, Members of the European Parliament are participating, as well as Graham Watson, the leader of the ALDE Group in the European Parliament and the Prime Minister of Denmark Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who has been chosen to be the next Secretary General of NATO.
