Invitation for participation in competition for the European Youth Prize a�?Karl the Greata�?
The European Parliament and the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen invite young people from all the EU Member States to participate in a competition on EU development, integration and European identity issues.
The “European Charlemagne Youth Prize” is awarded to projects, which promote the European and international understanding, foster the development of a shared sense of European identity and integration, and serve as a role model for young people living in Europe and offer practical examples of European living together as one community.
The projects submitted for the competition must be already up and running and they can be prepared in all official languages of the European Union. Priority will be given to projects created jointly by young people representing several Member States.
On 14 March 2008 national juries consisting of at least two Members of the European Parliament and one representative of youth organizations will select one national winner from each of the 27 Member States.
The prize for the best project is 5000 Euros, the second is 3000 Euros and the third is 2000 Euros and they will be presented in Aachen, Germany on 29 April 2008, by the Chairman of the European Parliament and the representative of the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen. As part of the prize, the three laureates will be invited to visit the European Parliament (in Brussels or in Strasbourg) in May 2008.
The application deadline is 8 February 2008.
