The Member of the European Parliament Bilyana Raeva is meeting the President of Turkey

The NMSS Member of the European Parliament Bilyana Raeva is part of the delegation. It has been made clear during the meeting that the Liberal Alliance (ALDE) is demonstrating support to the reforms in Turkey and its future as a European member of the Union. President Abdullah Gul has emphasized that his country is an example of stability and security guaranteed region, especially after the conflict in Georgia.

According to the European Liberals, to reach agreement for the uniting of Cypress comprises an unique chance and it correlates to the interests of Europe as a whole. The security and the stability of the region are the key factors to allow the accession of the Turkish country to Europe. However, Turkey should follow its path to EU based on reforms and alongside securing itself the support of the public opinion in Europe
The Liberals are supporting the accession of Turkey to the European Union upon the condition, of course, that it correlates to the criteria and requirements. The reforms in the judicial system and in the system of education are important ones. The recently adopted by the Turkish Parliament Law on the Foundations has also been a matter of discussions. The European Liberals marked the progress achieved in the judicial power efficiency and saluted the Turkish Government’s plan for reforms’ strategy application aiming to strengthen the independence and objectivity of the judicial power and to enhance the level of the public confidence it enjoys.
Later in the day the delegation of the Liberals is meeting the Parliament Chairperson KA�ksal Toptan and the Prime Minister Recep Erdogan.
